Aline Fischer

Born in Alsace in 1981, Aline Fischer lives in Berlin since January 2007. She studied Political Science (SciencesPo, Graduate Diploma in International Relations) and concluded a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master's in Documentary directing in Lussas, France. In 2007-2008 Aline Fischer was assistant of Gerd Kroske, former DEFA director, and of Anne Philippe, architect and filmmaker who worked on the outer suburbs of Paris in the Département Seine Saint Denis.

In 2010 she presented with Bellota Films (Paris), the CNC and the "Louis Lumière program" (former „Project Cinema Villa Médicis“ her documentary debut with the medium length film L'OUEST SAUVAGE (THE WILD WEST) (57 min).

In 2012 Aline Fischer was elected for the Grant Program “Deutschlandstipendium” (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung). In 2012-2013 she went for several trips to Jenin to the Freedom Theater founded by Juliano Mer Khamis and did a Masterclass with director Albert Maysles as the Sapir College of Sderot in Israel.

In March 2016 she completed her directorial diploma at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf. She directed the essay film THE GREEN STAR (DER GRÜNE STERN) (51 min) that received the development award at the film school’s reception during the 2012 Berlinale, and has been screened at the competition festival Max Ophüls Prize in 2014, and at the Dok.Fest München.
Aline Fischer deals with gender construction and borders, with a focus on countries that have been influenced by communism. She wrote a theoretic diploma work named “The Violent Muse” about Deleuze’s Cinema of The Body.

Her feature-length fiction film METEOR STREET (METEORSTRASSE) (84’) was shown and nominated for the best first feature film Award at the Berlinale 2016. METEORSTRASSE received the Main actor Award in Schwerin at festival Filmfest Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Five Lakes Newcomer’s Award for the best feature film at International Fünf Seen Film festival. It is also nominated for Best director at the Studio Hamburg Newcomer Award and at the New Filmmakers Competition of Mostra Internacional de cinema in São Paulo. METEORSTRASSE is invited among other festivals at the Morelia International Film Festival in Mexico & at the Horizonte Festival in Japan, and is in competition at the 31th Independent Filmfest Osnabrück, at the Biberacher Filmfestspiele and at the Schlingel International Film Festival for young audiences.

German Films ask her to join as a guest the German Cinema Week of China, attending screenings in Peking, Chengdu & Shenzhen. She will soon participate in the project of the European Film Academy - A Sunday in the country - a weekend encounter dedicated to 10 to 13 up-coming young film makers.

Two of her films are a diptych: They both deal with the same man, Mario. First, Aline made a documentary portrait about him (FOX & WALTER), then a fiction short called MAIK were he is embodied by an actor. The films are both shot on super 16 mm and belong together.
