Born 1971 in Scotland, Ewan McGregor achieved worldwide critical acclaim in 1996 when he played the emaciated heroin addict Renton in director Danny Boyle’s film TRAINSPOTTING. He landed the largest role of his career and set the international film community of fire when he signed on as Jedi Master Obi-Wan-Kenobi in STAR WARS: EPISODE I – THE PHANTOM MENACE (1999).
