Jiri Sádek studied at the Film Academy of Miroslav Ondricek in Pisek majoring in directing and screenwriting. His film "Mr. Late" won several regional awards and was nominated for The Best ShortFilm and The Best film shot on 16mm at the Student Short Film Festival in London. It was also officially released in Japan. In March 2016 Jiri celebrated the premiere of his horror feature debut “The Noonday Witch” (2016). The story of the lonely mother is based on traditional Czech folklore legend about maternal depression and inner demons.Variety notes his “assured visual sense and the ability to elicit nuanced performances from the experienced cast”. The film won the Méliés D’Argent for Best European Feature at The Lisbon International Horror Film Festival. He also recently finished his documentary feature “The Following” about the phenomenon of successful Youtubers. Fun fact: the film is premiering tonight (13 September 2017)! Jiri describes it as an independent full-feature “vlog” which aims to build a bridge between parents and kids. Jiri has also worked as a dubbing director for HBO, Disney Channel or Pixar on features such as “Finding Dory” and “The Beauty and the Beast”.
