Ben Vandendaele is a versatile producer based in Brussels where he studied Audiovisual Techniques at the Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema and Sound. He has gathered experience in various film-related settings: as a digital image technician, film editor and a vault manager (a role similar to a post-production allrounder). He is the founder of two companies: the production company Bekke Films that supports provocative cinema and authors with a purpose and Radiator IP Sales with which he has represented, distributed and sold an impressive total of 70 short and 3 feature films to date. The short film “Figura” directed by Katarzyna Gondek was selected for 30 film festivals including Sundance and Sheffield DocFest a surreal tale about creating myths, religious kitsch, and about the desire for greatness. Ben’s first short that he produced “Siemiany” (directed by Philip James McGoldrick) was a great success winning more than 15 international awards and screening at festivals including Berlinale, Clermont-Ferrand and Seattle IFF. “Siemiany” tells the story of two teenage friends who spend their summer in Siemiany, a small tourist village on the countryside, the boredom of the countryside and the feeling of unity amongst the boys, takes their friendship to a new level of sexually loaded intimacy. Ben’s current projects include a feature doc on the phenomenon of the globally booming War Tourism called “War Watchers”, “Trains” directed by the Pole Maciej Drygas will use found footage to tell the history of people travelling by train and the “The Nipple Whisperer”, a short film directed by Belgian director Jan Van Dyck, a project being developed with the help of NISI Masa - European Short Pitch and the support of the Flemish Audiovisual Fund.
