„My desire to participate comes from a need to be in a different, artistic environment, communicate with new people abroad with the same love and passion about filmmaking, people wholly devoted to cinema. Such opportunities provide us with courage in this time, and solidify our desire to go on, no matter the cost.“

Giorgos Teltzidis is a filmmaker from the city of Thessaloniki in northern Greece. He has completed a two-year program in Film Studies, and then pursued a degree in European Culture.
George has written and directed a number of short films, documentaries, and commercials.
„The stories I wrote during that period became more political, more angry as wherever I turned I saw a broken society and people suffering“, he says of his work. „Immigrants and refugees, the small bourgeoisie, “poor devils”, and the morality of their world came to inhabit my texts.“

He has also participated in various festivals in Greece and abroad. He has collaborated as an assistant director, script and casting director with: Konstantinos Giannaris, Ektoras Lygizos, Periklis Hoursoglou, Stathis Athanasiou and more. Three of his scripts have been funded by the Greek National Television's “Microfilm” program and the Greek Film Center.

In 2012, he was awarded with the best documentary award for PURE RADIO at the Drama International Short Film Festival. The movie tells the story of a radio station that was set up as a therapy initiative to help underaged drug users.

In 2013, in the same festival, he received honors as well as the panhellenic film critics association award for his script GENERATOR, directed by Nikoleta Leousi. George wrote the film in a time of social unrest and translates Greece’s current crisis into a personal and emotional tale about a man torn between his beloved business and the monetary needs of his family.

In 2015, his short film DYE was nominated for the Hellenic Film Academy award. In 2016 it won the best short film award at the Hellas Berlin Filmbox festival. The drama revolves around a family living in Athens who let out the flat above to a young immigrant and his family. A chance to sell the flat presents itself and leads to a downward spiral of human interactions.

At the moment he works on the pre-production stage for his new short film, a coming-of-age story. He has also finished a treatment for his first feature film DAF, a harsh, bleak and intriguing drama about the lives of three garbage collectors. The project has been selected among 159 other projects, in the final 30 contenders for a fund from FIRST FILMS FIRST, a program
by the Goethe Institute Young Director's Academy. He is also finishing the scripts for two short films for other directors.
